About me

I’m Laurie Wood, and my heart lies in helping families grow together. As a dog trainer and a birth doula, I combine gentle guidance, patience, and encouragement to support both two- and four-legged family members.

I am a family-centered dog trainer and a certified birth doula. I bring the best of both worlds together to support families in creating safe, joyful, and lasting relationships with their dogs. I understand the unique challenges that come with family life—whether it’s welcoming a new dog into the home, preparing your pup for the arrival of a baby, or navigating the toddler years when both children’s and dogs’ needs are constantly changing. My goal is to guide families through these transitions with patience, positivity, and practical skills that help everyone thrive together.

With a lifelong passion for teaching and supporting families, I bring a unique blend of skills and experience to my work. I began my career as a high school English teacher and later served as a middle school principal, where I learned the importance of patience, communication, and guidance—skills that now shape the way I approach dog training and family support. For over 30 years, I’ve owned and trained dogs, enjoying everything from everyday companionship to the excitement of agility. I am also a mother, stepmother, and proud grandmother of ten amazing kids, giving me deep insight into the joys and challenges of family life. Today, I bring all of these experiences together to help families create safe, loving, and positive relationships with their dogs.
